Food served at St Mary and St Joseph's meets the school food standards, so that children have healthy, balanced diets.
The school food standards apply to all maintained schools, and academies that were founded before 2010 and after June 2014. They must provide:

School meals are priced at £2.00 per day and payable to the School Office. The children have an option for Monday or Friday Meals. Please note we require three weeks notice to change from their current meal preference.
Our school community has made a commitment to be a nut-free school for the safety and health of our students. Although we recognise that we cannot guarantee an environment that is completely free from any allergen, we believe that a nut free policy minimises the risk for pupils with nut allergies.
Food allergies can be fatal. Reactions can range from an irritating rash to life-threatening anaphylaxis, and it only requires a small amount of the allergen to set off symptoms. Click here for more information about anaphylaxis.
First aid staff in the school are trained to use Epi-pens (an injection of adrenalin) which are required immediately if there is a serious reaction. However, to minimise the risk of an allergic reaction we cannot have nuts in school in any form.
We need every student, teacher and parent to help us make St Mary and St Joseph’s RC Primary School a safer place for students who have food allergies.
So please do not put any nut products in your child’s lunch box.
We also cannot allow items such as Celebrations, Quality Street, Roses or Heroes as these include peanuts, hazelnuts and coconut in some of the selections.
There are many other products that can present a risk, so please look at the ingredients list of products closely. We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check but we know that you will recognise the importance of creating a safe environment.
St. Mary and St. Joseph’s RC Primary school is an inclusive school where each student is valued. We respect the needs of ALL of our students, including those with allergies. Our nut-free policy allows students with food allergies to enjoy classroom and lunch time with their fellow students.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.
